Angels At Work

I introduced Sheryl, my niece-sister, a couple of posts back titled “Thank You Just Doesn’t Cover It”. She received an email from a friend, one that she had gifted a copy of Journey From Ego, and she forwarded it to me. Sheryl tells me that she gets this type of feedback on a regular basis, (but rarely in print). I wanted to share it because it’s a spectacular example of one type of angelic intervention, so here it is:

“I had to place a kid at St. Mary’s and it was taking way         toooooo long so I asked the angels to help us out.  We had a date of admission for 8/5, then it changed to the 4th. So I started writing the disposition report and on Wednesday I thought I had a few more days to finish. Silly me. On Wednesday afternoon I got a call from the placement and was asked if we could do the intake the next day, (7/30) at 2:00. Of course I said yes but then had to work like a mad woman…to have everything ready for the next day’s hearing at 1:00 and then run to St. Mary’s. It serves me well for not paying attention and being ready, because the angels will respond…!”

Yes, they will. One caveat though. The angels always hear us if we wish it, and they always answer, but now and then the answer might be difficult to hear. It’s not because the answer is unclear, it’s because we don’t want to hear the answer that’s being provided. We have to remain open-minded. The answer that is given might encourage one to move in an expected, even unwanted direction. The answer might even be “no” when what we really wanted to hear was “yes”, or vice-versa. Sometimes when we believe that the angels aren’t talking to us, it’s because we’re blocking them out – we think  we want an answer to our question, or our dilemma, but really we don’t.

Always bear in mind, we all have free will; we can make the choice whether or not to follow through on the suggestions that come to us via the angels. Then it’s just a matter of remaining accountable for our actions.

I invite you to share your angelic interventions in “Comments”. If you prefer that yours not be made public, just let me know.

Why Angel Wing Earrings?

I’m aware that the photo on my last post appeared sideways in the mobile version of the website. I’m bummed, but I don’t know how to change it. It was upside-right here, so I assumed it would be everywhere, but no, it wasn’t. If anyone has any insight into this dilemma I’d love to hear it so it doesn’t happen again, or if it does, so I can fix it.

And why post a photo of earrings in the first place? What’s the big deal about angel wings? It wasn’t meant to be an insider comment, but it did occur to me that if one hadn’t yet read my book, Journey From Ego, The Path To Healing there would be no context for a post referring to angel wing earrings.

Here’s the background. The content of Journey From Ego came to me via the angelic realm and much of it is regarding the manner in which angels are able to assist us in our daily lives. It tells us that angels surround us always; that they are only a whisper away. Journey reminds us that all we need to do to receive angelic assistance is request it; that our requests are always heard and always answered. Journey schools us in the how-to of wording our requests using specifics so that we receive the outcomes we desire rather than using broad words such as “patience”, “discipline”, or “happiness”. You can read more about this in my previous blog post, Practice.

In the popular media there is some discussion about exactly which are the “original” archangels and which are “lesser” archangels and about exactly how many archangels there are. Some of this controversy stems from what is stated in the Bible regarding this matter. It also is impacted by other authors, of which there are many, who write about angels and guides and how they interact with us in our world. Journey From Ego describes seven of the archangels as being the original seven to stand before God.

Archangel Michael is the “Beautiful One”. His light is of a brilliant blue hue. He is the angel of mercy and light. He brings families together, as well as using his mighty sword to slice through the cords that entangle humans in unhealthy relationships of anger, guilt or hypocrisy. Call on Michael in times of insecurity, fear or emotional upheaval. He will protect you from dangers of all kinds. He is a protector and will be with you at a moments notice if you but ask for his presence or intervention.

Archangel Raphael is a healer of people and animals alike, and glows with sparkling green light, the color of new spring grass. Calling to Archangel Raphael will instantly bring his mercy and you will feel his healing presence. He also is of particular assistance when things are going all wrong. No matter what the issue, if you find yourself struggling to complete a project, call on Archangel Raphael for his calming touch and observe the smoothing out of difficulties.

Archangel Chamuel is a powerful angel, a protector of the world at large, as well as a source of protection and comfort for individuals. Chamuel is the finder of lost items, including pieces of ourselves. Can’t fine your keys, your other shoe, an important document? Requesting Chamuel’s intervention will lead you to that which is missing. Likewise if you are in need of a specific item for a project Chamuel will assist you in locating it. Archangel Chamuel is also a source of inspiration in the midst of perplexing situations.

Archangel Uriel is the angel of peace. If requested he will bring to you serenity and hope. Archangel Uriel brings peace to the world and the end to war on Earth. He is also the angel of divine justice.

Archangel Zadkiel is the angel of mercy and understanding. His is a soft and golden light, one that is always with you in times of sadness or depression, or loneness. Zadkiel is the angel to bring your questions of relationship, who will assist with the mending of broken hearts and broken relationships. Requesting the assistance of Zadkiel will soften the edges of grief and the sensation of having been misunderstood.

Archangel Gabriel is the angel of strength. Gabriel is the angel that will provide to you the ability to see the greater picture and also to have faith. He will ease your heart and strengthen your faith in challenging times. Look to Archangel Gabriel to guide you in times of desperation and of grief.

Archangel Jophiel provided the content of Journey From Ego, The Path To Healing. She is the archangel of illumination and creativity, and will assist with any project that serves one’s evolution. It is through the act of creation that evolution occurs and it is through God that one creates. She brings knowledge, wisdom and connection with your higher self.  It is Jophiel who whispers ideas to inventors, scientists, educators, writers and artists of all genres. It is Jophiel that is responsible for exposing the manipulative, greedy nature of corporations and governments that would lead countries into chaos and the earth into annihilation.

Jophiel tells us in Journey, that God wishes us to be happy, and that angels are God’s messengers. The angels bring us messages in many forms and in order to receive them we must be open to hearing and observing them. Angels provide their messages in person-specific forms. That is, those that enjoy music may suddenly notice a song lyric that speaks directly to an issue that is current in that person’s life. Or a message may be found something that is read, a magazine, poetry, or a novel. These messages may take the form of creating synchronicities, which when followed lead to unexpected opportunities. I personally treat feathers found unexpectedly, often in unusual places, as angel whispers, as reminders that my angels are near to me.

The primary message shared in Journey From Ego is that the angels will, if we request their assistance, help us to identify the voice of the ego so that it can no longer usurp our power. It is the ego voice, the voice of fear that talks to us incessantly, while we mistake it as being our own. It is the ego that influences our choices; that sabotages us; causes us to be insecure, insincere, jealous, vengeful, judgmental – all of which are ego-based (i.e. fear-based) responses to life’s challenges and opportunities.

So there you go – the reason for the reference to angel wing earrings. That’s it, in a nutshell. I mean, there’s more of course – 230 plus pages. And of course I urge all who haven’t yet read Journey From Ego, The Path To Healing to do so, because in it archangel Jophiel shares a message of great love and hope and a prescription for saving each other, as well as the earth on which we live. Readers report that angel energy enters their lives from the get-go, that they feel their influence, and sense their presence and their loving support.

I can’t wait to hear your stories of angel interaction and synchronicity. Enter your stories in the Comments section, or email me at author.elizlehl@gmail.com.

Three Ways Ego Sabotages Your Growth

Are you where you want to be, doing what you want to do? In other words, are you content with your life? Do you feel fulfilled and fully present? Are you the hero of your own life?

Granted you may be tired, exhausted even, but when you go to sleep at night are you able to congratulate yourself on a day well spent, at least most of the time? Sometimes? Or do you fall asleep planning a new venture, or thinking about an ambiguous point in your future when you will…well, maybe you aren’t quite sure, but something will be different.

Or maybe you are sure. Maybe you know exactly what you want to do instead of what you are doing, and you fully plan to – someday. Or perhaps you feel that you are exactly where you are meant to be, moving along your path, but quaking in the boots you wear as you walk along.

The angels whisper to us, they provide us with inspiration, passion even, to help us find our path, and synchronicities to assist us with staying on it while we move forward in our lives. The ego, on the other hand fights for control. It prefers that we move away from the path that leads us back to ourselves and away from ego, away from its control.

Here are a few of the tactics that ego uses to control your process:

The ego preys on your sense of inadequacy and uses self-deprecation to further its agenda. It is masterful at knowing your weak points and using them as gaps to flow into your psyche in order to remind you that you are not smart enough to go back to school, or that you don’t have the financial wherewithal to start that business, or that public speaking is terrifying.

The ego voice engages you in self-talk that is typically negative in nature. It tells you that you don’t have a “math brain”, so there is no way you could master the accounting classes necessary to successfully run a small business; that in order to compete for that position you’d have to first lose thirty pounds, at least; that you’re not an artist, so taking a painting class it just too frightening. The ego-voice is commonly confused with that of your own voice.

Another way ego sabotages you is by using the S-word against you. SELFISH! That is, your ego voice will not only tell you that you are being selfish, but it will do its best to convince you. Most of us were taught as children that selfishness is not an admirable trait, which is true. But somewhere along the way the line between self-care and/or personal growth, and selfishness became blurred. Most of us (especially women) believe that self-focus and taking care of oneself is synonymous with “selfishness”. Your ego-voice will often be only the first of several voices to let you know that you are being selfish. This occurs in anticipation of being asked by those you are the closest to, “What about me?” “What about the kids, (your job,) (the mortgage)?” Because you know you will be, right? These are the questions you ask yourself before anyone else does. Only it’s not you asking, it’s ego.

Following the initial assault of the ego-voice, you have the terrain of the egos of others to navigate. The opinion of selfishness, born of the fear and insecurity of the other, is frequently posited without pretense and with much emotion as in, “You can’t be serious. You’re being so selfish!” Or, “You’re only thinking of yourself!” AND THEN, “What about…” Ego loves that. Now it can say, “Told you so.”

A third mechanism is guilt. Guilt has got to be one of the most motivating (read paralyzing) of all of the emotions we experience, and ego counts on that. Growth creates change. It’s inevitable. (Imagine a comic strip; one person speaking to another saying, “I just wish change didn’t have to be so different.” Not funny perhaps, but so true.) When your personal growth bumps into the life of another person something in that person’s life changes and when that change is met with resistance guilt is the outcome. Resistance can take many forms – anger, sadness, jealousy to name a few, but at its most basic level resistance is fear. And fear is the voice of ego. It’s a circle. It’s a trap, an ego trap.

So how do you find your path, or continue to move forward in your life? How do you avoid being sabotaged by that ever-ready ego? How do you know the ego voice from that of your own?

  • You take the time to practice quieting the chattering voice in your head in order to hear the softer, quieter voice of your heart. Your angels speak from your heart, not your head.
  • You take the time to feel your emotions. Ego-based emotions are fear-based and destructive. Angel whispers are compelling, inspiring, light-hearted. They lift you up and carry you forward.
  • You silence negative self-talk and walk away from negative input from others.
  • You listen for angel whispers and watch for the synchronicities that will lead you to, or propel you forward on your path.

How does your ego-voice influence your growth?

The Un-Resolution

Here it is, New Year’s Eve, eve. We’re standing on the threshold of yet another new year faced with the question many of us entertain each time this milestone bears down on us – what do I want to change in the coming year? But really the question that begs answering is how do I want to change in this New Year?

I gave up the practice of making New Year’s resolutions sometime ago. In the past they typically included eating less sugar, drinking more water, getting regular exercise, re-establishing a yoga practice and meditating every day, writing everyday and getting more sleep. The usual. Every year. I was never able to follow through with any of them for more than a few weeks, much less all of them. This inability inevitably felt like failure so I gave it all up. Publicly I gave it up. As in, “Are you making any New Year’s Resolutions?” “No,” I’d answer. “I gave up that practice years ago.”

But privately, of course, I still think about it. After all, edging up to a fresh year gives me the opportunity to make a fresh start. It seems a shame to look it in the eye and take a pass. Then I saw this on my Facebook page (Thank you Sundari):

aMbNvEP_700b

And it poses an even better question. How can I change the state of the Union? Heck, let’s go for broke. How can I, lil ol’ me, change the world? By changing my perspective. By changing my focus. By changing my intent. If I change my perspective from judgment of others to one of love and acceptance, the need for defensive posturing will abate. If I change my focus from one of fear of another to trust in the love and support of God, (you can substitute the word you use to name the Mystery here,) I will inform the Universal Consciousness with love rather than fear, which will in turn inform the perspective of each individual on earth. If I change my intent to one of compassion in each encounter I will take one step closer to a compassionate world in each of those encounters.

And just as importantly, if I listen to that voice, the one that says, Come play! (That little voice we discussed last time, remember?) – really listen – I will be entertaining angels! The angels are always with us, always guiding us, constantly providing us whispers that will set us on our path, or keep us there. That voice, I swear, is the one that says, “Drink more water.” “Go for a walk.” “Quiet your mind so you can hear us more clearly.” It doesn’t take resolutions. We just have to learn to listen, and then of course to follow through. That’s where ego gets in the way and trips us, on the follow through. But hey, we’re here to practice. And we have a whole new year available to us to do just that.

How do you deal with the practice of making New Year’s Resolutions?
